Just some things that I figured would be good for you to know.
1.Singapore is not necessarily expensive, you simply have to look in the right place.
    2. Singaporeans are well versed in English, because English is actually taught in school. We simply use varying degrees of English in our daily lives, depending on how formal or informal is the situation. This thus creates the perception that Singaporeans do not necessarily speak good English.
    3. Gotta agree with you on that one.
    4. There's also the bus, which helps if you are going to the more isolated areas of Singapore where there are no nearby MRT or LRT.
    5. Staying left on the escalator is common courtesy in Singapore to allow those who are in more of a rush to go first. However, not everyone in Singapore does it.
    6. Some MRT stations are actually not as cooling as the other stations, to be honest. Especially the more crowded ones like Somerset and Orchard.
    7. Crime Rate may be low, but it doesn't mean that crimes do not happen.
